2014 Canadian Geomatics Events & Conferences

This is our list of Canadian geomatics conferences and events for 2014.  Here you will find events pertaining to GIS, remote sensing, surveying, cartography, and informatics. If you have a Canadian geomatics event coming up, please let us know so we can add it to our list.  GoGeomatics Canada also has a new opportunity for non-profit organizations: we are allowing these organizations to post events on our website for free in order to spread the knowledge of these events to the Canadian geomatics community .  If you have events you would like to post with us, which will also gain interest through our various social media accounts and through the Canadian Spatial Times Newsletter, please send an email to info@gogeomatics.ca and we will set up an account for you.

Like many of us within the industry, our GIS datasets have grown, and are now being integrated with external systems and open data initiatives which have forced us to revisit our GIS datasets. One of the fundamental parts to this revisit is the development of a proper data model.
Throughout the course of the day, we will explore best practices for data modeling, and learn how to migrate our data from an old format to a new data model using ETL tools.

The Third International EIDOLON Symposium  on Cartographic Information

Objectives: The AGRG, NSCC was recently awarded a grant funded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Nova Scotia Research and Innovation Trust to acquire equipment to support advanced mapping in the coastal zone and freshwater environments. This workshop will outline the research objectives, the equipment, and current industry research partners.

Who should attend: Industry, government and academia with an interest in the coastal zone and freshwater environments? Presentations will be made by researchers from AGRG, NSCC, lidar providers, and industry partners.

Our conference will begin with a keynote speaker and then we will have three concurrent sessions running all-day on nine different topics. We will then proceed to the Icebreaker which starts at 7:30 p.m. On Friday morning the business session will commence and continue on Saturday, April 26.  On Friday evening we will be having a medieval feast night.  The formal (black tie optional) President’s Ball wraps up the convention on April 26.
