Ontario is helping to build a stronger, more diverse northern economy while creating jobs in the Timmins area.

With nearly $1.4 million in support from the province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), seven projects in the Timmins region are boosting the regional economy, and creating 34 jobs.  Projects include:

• NEONet is receiving $500,000 for a GIS mapping project involving 20 communities in the Northeast.
• Precision Boring in Timmins is receiving $322,500 to expand a building and purchase equipment for the machine and fabrication shop, creating four jobs.
• The Timmins Economic Development Corporation is receiving $235,100 for a three‑year mining supply and industrial mineral investment attraction regional project, leading to the creation of 20 jobs.
• The Mushkegowuk Council is receiving $125,100 to increase the use of GIS and information management systems among its member First Nations, creating two jobs.
• Great White North Technology Consulting is receiving $125,000 to offer business solutions and technology support services, creating five jobs.
• SRB Contracting is receiving $32,500 to provide general contracting and carpentry services, creating two jobs.
• Truax Counselling Services is receiving $25,000 to offer counselling and mental health services, creating one job.
