GoGeomatics Social Leader Profile: Anderson Sandes, Vancouver
Anderson Sandes has brought a vast background in GIS to GoGeomatics and we are pleased to introduce him as one of our Vancouver social leaders. He is currently a technical writer and researcher in the Vancouver area where he creates web applications, writes articles, performs data conversions and manages his personal website (http://andersonsandes.com/) where he outlines his interests and projects. He has also prepared an article for the GoGeomatics magazine, “Accurate Spatial Data: GIS and Travel Accounts,” that we published earlier this year.
Anderson earned an M.S in Geographic Information Science (2012) and an M.A in Historical Resources Management (2010) from Idaho State University. Anderson received multiple awards
and honours throughout his studies, including two Graduate Research Assistant Scholarships, two Best Paper Award nominations, and having the opportunity to attend the International Cartographic Conference. We invite you to read his publication “A Globally Oriented Deep Mapping of Brazil” which he prepared in 2009 during his time at the conference. He also completed a GPS Project, a Geodatabase and Cartographic Visualization project, and prepared several interactive web applications.
Anderson worked as a technical writer and GIS consultant for Idaho State University in 2012. He wrote a set of tutorials aimed at teaching people how to use the open source GIS software MapWindow and ArcGIS 10.1. Anderson is fluent in three languages, including Portuguese and Spanish! So if English is not your specialty and you have a passion for geomatics, we invite you to converse with Anderson at the next Vancouver social!
