City of Calgary Presents at GoGeomatics Calgary Social for GIS Day Nov 14th

Ever since our September blow the doors off “Calgary Back to School Social,” with over 75 participants our group in Cow Town has been on fire.

We hope you can join our group leaders, Madina, Kori and Mikhail for a very interesting talk about the City of Calgary GIS for… you guessed it, our Calgary GIS Day event.

When: Tuesday, November 14, 2017
What Time: 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Where: Brewster’s 83411 Ave SW, Calgary, AB

GoGeomatics is excited to be hosting Brett Cedergren, a senior geospatial analyst with the City of Calgary. Here’s what we got from Brett in terms of what he’s going present to the group:

“I will discuss the evolving City of Calgary Corporate Geospatial Architecture from Desktop users to WebGIS (ArcGIS Online, Portal) as an essential component in supporting the diverse needs within the City of Calgary.  Current projects will showcase how we are leveraging new Geospatial Technology to deliver modern solutions to different business units and the public.” – Brett Cedergren – City of Calgary

Brett tells us he can discuss how the City of Calgary plans to implement these new technologies, and also include some challenges the city has faced along the way.

City of Calgary Stuff: The City of Calgary is increasingly dependent on location-based information. City services realize and enable the value of location-based data, geospatial technology and analytical tools – this results in more efficient decisions based on accurate, current and comprehensive data enabling front-line services to be provided to citizens in the most cost-effective manner.

Brett Cedergren: Brett graduated from the University of Calgary with his Bachelor of Science in Geography, with focused course work on GIS, Global Geography, City Planning, and Physical Geography. He now works with the City of Calgary to develop and maintain a leading edge Enterprise GIS platform to support a broad range of public services.
