Learn to host your GIS Portfolio on the Cloud: Toronto GoGeomatics May Social!
May 22 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Join GoGeomatics for our May social! This month’s social is taking place Tuesday, May 22nd (7:00PM) at Betty’s On King(Upstairs!).
Following on from last month’s fantastic talk from GoGeomatics Managing Director, Jonathan Murphy on GIS Jobs & Careers, this month, Brian Bancroft has offered to share his knowledge on how to obtain a web presence or portfolio to potentially find you more success on the job hunt!
Web hosting can be a difficult topic, but one that has been made easier thanks to the proliferation of cloud computing. This tutorial focuses on how to take an existing website, and serve it on an AWS (Amazon Web Services) Cloud Server with its own domain!
While you are free to watch this tutorial over a pint, the 30-minutes are designed to be hands-on! So feel free to bring a laptop, a credit card, and an Amazon account, and you could be walking out your very own GIS portfolio website! Don’t have HTML skills? Can’t CSS? Not to worry! The lecture will come with a pre-built HTML site in the form of a business card which you can eventually grow and expand as you develop your skills.
Afterwards, Brian will stick around for a Q+A on all your web hosting (and development) questions
Please RSVP to let us know you’re attending.
