DESCRIPTION:We will begin with a presentation in Meeting Room 3 of the library by Rachel Plewes on the project she did for her master’s thesis. \nHere’s a summary: \nLandscape Based Approach to Lake Management in Ontario’s Cottage Country (Muskoka) \nThe Muskoka lakes are an important part of Ontario’s cottage country. The lakes of the Muskoka River Watershed have experienced large water quality changes from natural and human-induced stressors. These stressors include acidification\, climate change\, invasive species\, and shoreline development. In 2012\, cumulative-effects approaches to lake management evolved using geospatial technologies. The presentation will discuss a landscape-based approach to lake monitoring in the Muskoka River Watershed. GIS is applied to better understand how stressors\, aquatic connectivity\, and scale influence water quality. \nFrom here\, we will go to BNA Brewing\, 1250 Ellis St.\, for a 6:45 reservation. \nGoGeomatics is a networking event to welcome students\, professionals\, and academics in the field of geomatics in a casual environment. \nCome out and have some drinks with other students\, peers and professionals. Topics will include; (1) how to connect to open-source cloud imagery datasets in ArcGIS Pro using the new STAC UI function.
