SUMMARY:BeSpatial Webinar: Open Data: Driving Economic Development
DESCRIPTION:BeSpatial Northern Webinar –  Open Data: Driving Economic Development\nCRIBE has continued to leverage open and public data to deliver key information as part of our mandate. With a growing global bioeconomy\, we are bringing collaborative solutions to drive innovation and investment. In this webinar we would like to show you how! \nThrough the launch of the ForestEDGE this past year we are working hard to bring people together from around the world to solve crucial issues for investment that works with the environment.  Working with regional partners to create toolsets for learning\, sharing and problem solving\, we’re looking to bring a human touch and create a narrative to help make better decisions.  Collaborative networks hosted through our NextFor initiative have helped bring together companies from various sectors to rethink how we do business\, grow the forest bioeconomy\, and reach new markets. The tools and principals outlined in this webinar are transferable to whatever sector you work in\, and we are excited to bring this to you! \nPresenter:  Sarah Benčić

SUMMARY:All About ESRI's Community Map of Canada (by Canadian Open Data Society)
DESCRIPTION:This month we are pleased to feature Alia Kotb\, Community Maps Advocate for ESRI Canada\, connecting Canadian communities through a base map evolution. \nAlia Kotb is Esri Canada’s Community Maps Advocate. She steers communities to enrich their GIS offering with the Community Map of Canada to better serve their constituents and stakeholders. She prefers using an energized approach to challenges\, exploring solutions with a curious disposition rather than simply applying routine processes. Alia has been in the GIS industry for more than 10 years. With an MBA in International Business and a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication\, she is a journalist at heart who always likes to ask “why” and “what if” to uncover deeper insights to problems. Outside of work\, Alia is an avid traveller and you’ll always find a book in her bag. \nThe Community Map of Canada is a basemap of Canada built from authoritative data\, collected closest to source and updated daily. Seamlessly created to one common specification and compliant with international standards\, it provides unrestricted access to community maps and imagery across the country. \nAlia will be describing this program and highlighting the value of Open Data in Canada to its successful operation for the benefit of all Canadians.

SUMMARY:Subsurface Utility Mapping Strategy Forum (SUMSF)
DESCRIPTION:This is a virtual conference intended to bring together individuals and organizations who wish to share information about and contribute to improving the mapping of underground infrastructure. The priority use cases for better underground mapping is reducing damage to\nunderground utilities during construction and construction efficiency. Another use case that is rapidly gaining interest among utilities\, telecoms\, municipalities and even nations is subsurface digital twins. Digital twins of underground infrastructure are living models of real world objects and require a city-scale platform and tools that enable a large number of data providers and users including construction workers in the field\, developers\nof analytics and simulations\, and citizens to collaborate in maintaining and using the models. \nThe SUMSF conference is open to individuals and organizations who wish to contribute to progress in underground utility mapping. Presentations will focus on innovative strategies involving subsurface digital twins; legislation\, regulation\, business best practices\, new technologies\, and training and education for improving mapping of underground utilities.
