SUMMARY:10th International Conference on Agro-Geoinformatics and 43rd Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing (hybrid event)
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the members of the Organizing Committee from both the International Society of Agromatics (ISAM) and the Canadian Remote Sensing Society (CRSS)\, we have the pleasure of inviting you to attend the joint 10th International Conference on Agro-Geoinformatics and  43rd Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing which will be held in Québec City from July 11th to 14th\, 2022. It is currently planned as a hybrid (in-person and virtual) event. Those who are unable to attend the conference in person but wish to participate in it may do so virtually. Virtual participants (only) are able to make a presentation by prerecorded video. See Presentations/Q&A Sessions for more details. \nThe theme of this joint conference is “Remote Sensing and Geomatics for Sustainable Agriculture and Environment.” This event will thus be an opportunity to stimulate an open and inclusive dialogue about geomatics and remote sensing tools for agriculture and environmental applications. This event should make possible a dialogue between various stakeholders from around the world\, including researchers\, farmers\, advisors\, policymakers\, and representatives from governments\, local  communities  and the private sector. In particular\, this conference will provide an excellent occasion to present these applications in the era of artificial intelligence\, big data analytics\, and emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things\, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles\, the constellations of Earth Observation satellites\, and open-source and cloud computing. \nThe Québec City Convention Centre is located in a prime area surrounded by world‐class hotels and tourist attractions\, including the historic district of Old Québec. Québec City is the oldest and only fortified city in North America. Founded in 1608\, the city is famous for its European character and magnificent landscapes\, making it a highly valued and internationally recognized tourist destination. Québec City also proudly appears on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. \nWe look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful city of Québec! \nThe Call for Abstracts for the 10th International Conference on Agro-Geoinformatics and 43rd Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing is now available!  Click here to submit an abstract.

SUMMARY:Transforming Construction with Reality Capture Technologies: The Digital Reality of Tomorrow
DESCRIPTION:Join the University of New Brunswick Off-site Construction Research Centre (OCRC) in Fredericton\, New Brunswick from August 23 to August 25\, 2022 for our first specialty conference in partnership with the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE). \nThe construction industry is on the brink of major transformation. This was highlighted by McKinsey and Company in their report titled\, “The next normal in construction – How disruption is reshaping the world’s largest ecosystem.” This report highlights nine industry shifts including investment in technology and facilities. This is directly linked to reality capture technologies and used to support decision-makers in constructing and managing the built environment. \nThis specialty conference will feature presentations of peer-reviewed papers and relevant case studies to engage attendees in discussions about new and emerging technologies in the built environment. These topics focus on tools being used to enhance existing processes and inform better decisions for building\, operating and maintaining the built environment. They include: \n\nIntegration of reality capture with modern technologies (i.e. 3D printing\, augmented/virtual/mixed reality\, UAVs\, etc.)\nLaser scanning to building information modelling (BIM) generation\nQuality inspection\, condition assessment\, safety monitoring and productivity improvement\nResource and activity tracking\nSurveying\, visual documentation and as-is modelling\nUse of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning\n\nWe welcome the suggestion of additional topics for the conference program. Contact offsiteconstruction@unb.ca to discuss. \nThe conference technical program will feature state-of-the-art technologies and presentations on leading research around the world as well as case studies direct from industry. These sessions will be used as catalysts to discuss and explore applicable recent practices and new research in the field of reality capture. \nMore details will be available soon\, including announcements of keynote speakers and registration information. Follow us on LinkedIn and Twitter and sign up for our email list to be the first to know any important event updates! \n

SUMMARY:International Fall School in Hydrographic Surveying
DESCRIPTION:The crucial role of detailed knowledge of the seabed has never been so well highlighted as recently with the proclamation by the United Nations of the Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021 – 2030) or the Nippon Foundation – GEBCO Seabed 2030 project aiming at 100% of the seabed mapped worldwide by 2030. Such an intensification of hydrographic surveys brings new opportunities in terms of recruitment of Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) as well as technological and methodological solutions. \nNow in its second year\, this international fall school provides participants with a unique multi-disciplinary training experience\, involving close interaction with high-level scientists\, professional and stakeholders from the hydrospatial and maritime fields in a cutting-edge technological context. Participants will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and develop their competencies through courses\, practical work\, conferences and activities allowing them to live the experience of surveying on board a hydrographic vessel. \n*Bilingual school (French and English) and offered in a hybrid mode (on campus at Université Laval and online). \nThis international fall school is part of the Canadian Ocean Mapping Research and Education Network (COMREN).
