SUMMARY:Canadian Geodetic Survey Hosts Live Webinar via ACLS.
DESCRIPTION:Modernized CSRS Products for 2026: What’s new?\nNRCan’s Canadian Geodetic Survey (CGS) plans to modernize the Canadian Spatial Reference System (CSRS)\, in parallel with modernization of the US’s National Spatial Reference System (NSRS) by their National Geodetic Survey (NGS). This includes a new geometric frame (NATRF2022\, replacing NAD83(CSRS))\, and an update to Canada’s height system (CGVD2013)\, which will be realized using the same common North American geoid model defining the new US system (NAPGD2022 (North American Pacific Geopotential Datum of 2022)). Formal adoption is expected in 2026. The core products defining the new systems have been developed collaboratively by Canada and the US\, and both CGS and NGS are making modernized products available for review in 2025. The functionalities of NRCan’s reference system access tools will initially remain largely the same once the new products are adopted. \n  \nIn this presentation and panel discussion\, we will review the new products\, with a focus on differences and similarities with current products defining the CSRS. DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will be having a presentation by Arthur Chum called Leveraging GIS in Sea Surveys: Data Integration and Real-World Challenges. \nArthur will discuss how GIS is used in sea surveys to collect and integrate data from sources like bathymetry\, seismic surveys\, and environmental data. He will cover key considerations for accuracy and safety—such as hazard avoidance\, data validation\, and regulatory compliance—and share real-world challenges from his marine geomatics projects. \nArthur is a geomatics professional with experience in marine surveys in Hong Kong before relocating to Canada. He is passionate about using GIS to tackle complex challenges in marine environments. \nFrom here\, we have a 6:45 reservation at BNA Brewing\, 1250 Ellis St. The reservation name is under Dianne or GoGeomatics. If you can’t make the library part\, you’re still welcome to join for the pub social. \nGoGeomatics is a networking event to welcome students\, professionals\, and academics in the field of geomatics in a casual environment.\nCome out and have some drinks with other students\, peers and professionals.
