DESCRIPTION:About the Conference\nSpatial Knowledge and Information (SKI) Canada brings together both applied and theoretical perspectives\, offering a national forum for researchers\, practitioners\, and students to exchange ideas in the geospatial sciences. The conference showcases best practices and interdisciplinary approaches to spatial knowledge\, welcoming contributions from diverse fields including geoinformatics\, remote sensing\, health geography\, transportation\, urban planning\, spatial statistics\, geovisualization\, location-based services\, GeoAI\, smart cities\, and more. \nHeld every two years in Banff\, Alberta\, SKI features a unique schedule with sessions in the late afternoon and evening\, leaving mornings and early afternoons open for networking\, informal collaboration\, and enjoying the mountain environment. The program consists of academic-style presentations with ample time for questions and discussion\, along with social events and a keynote lecture by an emerging leader in the field. \nNow in its ninth edition\, SKI Canada has been fostering collaboration and advancing GIScience for 18 years. Founded with a “work hard\, play hard” spirit\, the conference has become a welcoming venue for both established and emerging scholars to share innovative research. Nearly two decades later\, SKI remains a cornerstone of Canada’s GIS community. We look forward to carrying on this tradition at SKI 2026.
