The Breaking News Last year, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists announced that a year prior, one of their members (Süddeutsche Zeitung) had been sent the contents of a massive leak from the Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. A team of really intelligent squirrels and I have been working on the new GoGeomatics magazine. I'm taking a break from the work, and the squirrels, to get nostalgic about how GoGeomatics Canada got to where we are. What is GoGeomatics today? We have 12 GoGeomatics networking groups and have hosted 300+ networking events. On the magazine we are close to publishing our one thousandth Canadian geomatics article.  We've worked with over a hundred Canadian geomatics organizations posting their jobs, news and events. The Community Maps Program (CMP) was introduced by Esri Canada in 2009 allowing organizations to share and host geographic data.  The CMP is accessible to public and private organizations and web users.  The platform for the program is a web application hosted by Esri Canada. The CMP is based on a web map user interface. This resource promotes open data access to the public and works using a combination of public and private data sources. Last month the Canadian geomatics community came together to celebrate the start of the new school year by welcoming new and returning students to college and universities across Canada.  Over 450 people came out to our 2016 Back to School GoGeomatics socials across Canada. With the help of our sponsors we had the largest and most successful set of events since we began to host socials across the country.  We also have new groups starting up! GoGeomatics Canada would like to announce Peterborough, Ontario has been added to our growing list of cross-country GoGeomatics Socials! We now have 11 groups across Canada. GoGeomatics welcomes Rachel Kuzmich and Danah Ashcroft as the social group leaders for Peterborough. The Back to School GoGeomatics Social will be our fist event.
