Entry Level Geomatics Verification Engineer job

In this entry level 12 month contract position as a Geomatics Verification Engineer with NovAtel Inc.’s Geomatics team you will design, implement, and explore ways to verify improvements on real-time GNSS algorithms. Collaborating with engineers across the NovAtel organization to implement algorithms that automate verification; collect and analyze data; and, participate in firmware qualifications. Your troubleshooting abilities and methodical problem solving approach will support ongoing business initiatives in our exciting high tech environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on with NovAtel’s products to execute feature level tests
  • Analyze performance and functional data to product requirements. Includes statistical and graphical analysis.
  • Perform “Exploratory Testing” to create system knowledge and enhance product robustness
  • Create or update test procedures based on new FW features
  • Create & maintain automated system level tests
  • Compile high quality written reports using standard templates
  • Create or update the NovAtel test utilities and scripts using C++, Perl, Python, and other scripting languages
  • Perform field testing including testing in Kinematic, Static, and Backpack setups
  • Investigation of problems and potentially resolve system defects
  • Investigate reported field issues, and potentially perform customer service duties
  • Be able to think critically and analytically to perform ad-hoc testing on features
  • Some local field work outside of the NovAtel site may be required

Qualifications

Must-Have:                      

  • B.Sc. in Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics
  • Available for a minimum 12-month work term
  • Comfortable reading and writing code in scripting languages such as Python
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in C++ in a Windows environment using Microsoft Visual C++;
