Environmental Technician

The main role of the Environmental Technician will be to execute or supervise the onsite projects activities entrusted to them, regarding site characterization and rehabilitation and environmental work supervision. The technician will also participate in characterization of natural environmental studies. The incumbent will be working in the Ottawa or Gatineau Office.


  • Coordination and onsite supervision for drilling, exploratory trenching and manual drillings
  • Proceed with soil and water sampling
  • Supervise onsite construction work: characterization study, environmental site rehabilitation and contaminated soil management
  • Conduct land surveys and carry out underground water quality control
  • Collect data for historical research (environmental site assessment, Phase I)
  • Proceed with field surveys using GPS, levels or other measuring equipment
  • Partake in fieldwork with the biologist in the characterization of wetlands and water
  • Prepare data compilation tables
  • Draft and prepare reports under the supervision of the project manager


  • College degree or undergraduate level diploma related to the environment
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant practice
  • Knowledge of applicable technical frameworks (characterization guidelines, technical manuals, etc.)
  • Flexibility in terms of travel and outings
  • Ability for teamwork
  • Organized, rigorous and resourceful
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Proficiency in English
  • Knowledge in geo-technology (an asset)
  • ASP card (an asset)
  • Experience in environmental characterization site (Phase I to III) and rehabilitation environment (an asset)
  • Proficiency in French (an asset)
