The Role

We’re expanding our Land team and have an opportunity for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician, located in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Manager of Land, you will be responsible to oversee GIS applications and data management as well as play a critical role in the development and implementation of process improvements.

How You Will Contribute

  • Provide a variety of desktop and web based ArcGIS products and analysis services to Land, Regulatory, Operations, Environment Health & Safety & Emergency Management groups
  • Develop geographical information databases, manipulate and update data, generate reports and data summaries all while being well versed in projections and various coordinate systems
  • Optimize data workflows within FME and output processes
  • Expertise with the development and implementation of orthophoto and LiDAR datasets
  • Participate in department projects and initiatives; provide input, support research, manage assigned tasks, deliverables and timelines
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to support area review activities and initiatives by researching industry best practices and emerging trends, summarize findings, and present ideas to senior management

What You Bring

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in a GIS Technician Role
  • Detailed knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro), various GIS file types, FME and Global Mapper
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with the proven track record to handle multiple tasks concurrently and effectively
  • A post-secondary education in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or a related field; equivalent work experience will be considered instead of a degree.
  • Experience in upstream Oil and Gas, preferably British Columbia is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with computer language scripting is considered an asset
  • Some travel and field work may be required to meet business objectives
