SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Geospatial Support Specialist, reporting to the Manager of GIS Solutions, provides application and backend support while collaborating on GIS solutions. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining geospatial applications such as ArcGIS Enterprise and FME to ensure optimal performance and integration. The Geospatial Support Specialist must understand both the technical aspects of geospatial capabilities and the business needs for data and solutions, with a focus on continuous improvement and long-term planning for the Enterprise Geospatial Framework. Additionally, the Geospatial Support Specialist facilitates the effective use of technologies and databases to meet the GIS needs of internal and external clients, and provides expertise in the design, development, and management of geospatial solutions by supporting the implementation and maintenance of processes, policies, and procedures for the foundation technologies.

GENERAL DUTIES

  1. Administers and supports Planview USL’s geospatial systems, tools, and technology (such as Esri’s ArcGIS Enterprise, FME, etc.), including managing user accounts, installations, software updates, patches, and migrations.
  2. Monitors system performance, conducts capacity planning, and implements necessary enhancements to ensure optimal function and integration with other systems.
  3. Provides application support, troubleshoots issues, identifies root causes, and collaborates with team members to resolve problems.
  4. Develops and maintains online resources, including metadata, application help databases, and supporting documentation for geospatial solutions.
  5. Designs, implements, and manages ArcGIS server content, including geocoders, map services, basemaps, publishing, and cache/tile management.
  6. Collaborates on the implementation of Planview’s Enterprise Geospatial Roadmap, establishing goals and objectives for geospatial data and technologies.
  7. Develops, implements, and maintains geospatial standards, protocols, and procedures to ensure data integrity, optimal system performance, and efficient workflows. This includes QA/QC procedures, operational standards, administration standards, and security policies.
  8. Creates and maintains documentation for GIS solutions, including operational and user manuals, supplementary materials, and error/issue logs.
  9. Evaluates internally developed and third-party software programs, recommending potential implementation and integration with existing technologies.
  10. Provides expertise in network and database security, client support, and customer relations regarding geospatial application implementation, use, and maintenance.
  11. Reviews new solution requests, ensuring adherence to standards and data security policies, and assists in developing functional and technical specifications.
  12. Provides technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to staff supporting geospatial solutions and data, including collaborating on data integrations and training users on new tools and updates.
  13. Researches and identifies business process gaps, determining how spatial technology can improve efficiency, while maintaining up-to-date technical skills in GIS technologies.
  14. Collaborates with staff to identify and troubleshoot software and data issues, develop workarounds, and improve processes and applications.
  15. Assists in data analysis and reconciliation, resolving conflicts from spatial or relational database sources.
  16. Collaborates on the planning, scheduling, and purchasing of GIS related applications.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:

1. University degree, or College diploma in GIS, Geomatics, Computer Science, Data Management, Information Systems, or related discipline.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  1. 4-7 years of relevant experience, including GIS application development, spatial analysis, and increasing responsibility and work complexity.
  2. Strong understanding of geospatial concepts, including GIS principles, spatial data models, and geospatial technologies.
  3. Experience with key geospatial enterprise technologies (e.g., Esri ArcGIS/Enterprise, VertiGIS, FME Flow/Form, cloud-based solutions), and the ability to provide strategic planning for those systems.
  4. Expertise in ArcGIS Enterprise installation, configuration, upgrades, and maintenance.
  5. Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server/Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, Utility Network Model, and FME.
  6. Knowledge of geospatial relationships and advanced working knowledge of relational database management (SQL Server, SQL, postgreSQL, SDE, FGDB, Oracle Spatial).
  7. Extensive knowledge of Esri Enterprise Geodatabase products, including ArcGIS Server Geodatabase design, administration, configuration, and advanced functionality.
  8. Experience architecting, designing, and implementing high-performance, scalable enterprise-level systems, and evaluating solutions to meet functional and quality requirements.
  9. Demonstrated ability to write, interpret, and modify computer programming and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Arcade, HTML/CSS, R) and interact with various APIs.
  10. Experience in client/server and web-based application development and user support environments.

WORKING SCHEDULE & LOCATION
➢ Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 4:30PM)
➢ Half hour lunch (Unpaid)
➢ Hybrid position
