GIS Design Specialist for Radio Access Network

The Radio Access Network (RAN) Strategy team plans and budgets the growth of TELUS’ wireless network while accounting for best network performance, coverage, quality and customer experience. We leverage business analytics that we assess and develop in combination with geographic information system (GIS) analysis to make key business decisions.

Be part of a team that is responsible of tactical planning, GIS, analytics and business intelligence which combined, influence how we plan and budget for the network. These network upgrades provide the capacity, capability and reliability required and expected by our customers. You will support and align with corporate objectives and develop strategies that will shape how 5G will get rolled out at TELUS.

Here’s how
  • Analyzing, assessing and reporting on spectrum deployment, coverage and population covered
  • Examining and correcting data hosted in various databases through script development and automation
  • Reporting on TELUS’ network elements to Innovation, Science & Economic Development Canada (ISED)
  • Introducing new business techniques through big data mining and analytics
  • Working closely with senior management and delivering time sensitive data
  • Establishing and maintaining professional, positive relationships with internal/external customers, suppliers, and other TELUS entities and partners; and managing these relationships to positively influence decisions

You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

  • Knowledge of GIS, radio frequency (RF) tools and scripting: MapInfo, ArcGIS, Alteryx, Python, Structure Query Language (SQL)
  • Possess advanced techniques and knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office
  • Ability to conduct mass data examination, manipulation and correction in databases
  • Ability to build and maintain databases and their associated user interface
  • Solid understanding of network planning and the associated business/economic analysis
  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics
  • Previous experience in the telecommunications industry
  • Masters in Engineering/Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree
  • Ability to deliver under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, and willing to take initiative to influence direction and create change
