Junior Remote Sensing Scientist – Geoscience

We are looking for a Junior Remote Sensing Scientist – Geoscience with previous industry experience. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver passionate about building technology to address the sociological, economic, and environmental challenges faced by the modern extractives industry.

Responsibilities –

  • Aggregate, organize, and style spatial data from diverse sources
  • Writing clean, high-quality, maintainable code
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure the project meets business objectives and compliance standards

Qualifications –

  • Recent postgraduate (2019 and later) in GIS, Earth Sciences or other related degrees
  • Thorough, demonstrated knowledge of open source GIS tools, such as QGIS and GDAL, and
  • Has mastered the tools needed to convert between various data formats seamlessly
  • Demonstrated experience working with multispectral, hyperspectral, and lidar data
  • Excellent Python programming skills with an understanding of AI and machine learning methods
  • Strong knowledge of the underlying principles behind remote sensing data and processing techniques, including:
    • geometric corrections
    • atmospheric corrections
    • image enhancement methods
    • spectroscopy
