Monica Lloyd

Monica Lloyd is Academic Chair of the Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) at the Nova Scotia Community College, one of Canada’s leading institutions for geomatics education and workforce development. She has spent over a decade teaching and leading programs in GIS, cartography, and geographic sciences, helping prepare the next generation of geospatial professionals. Her career includes experience in property mapping, GIS operations, and cartographic production, as well as leadership in curriculum development and applied training. At COGS, she works at the intersection of education and industry, ensuring that programs remain aligned with evolving workforce needs. Monica brings a strong perspective on how geospatial careers are defined, taught, and transitioned into the labour market, making her a key voice in conversations around professional recognition and occupational classification in Canada.
