Call for Advisory Committee Volunteers: Become a National Geomatics Program Chair!

Join us in shaping the future of Canada’s geomatics expo by serving as a program chair on our advisory committee. We’re seeking enthusiastic volunteers with experience in the following areas to guide and steer the content for our programs:

  • Space Based Earth Observation
  • Surveying & Precision Measurement

If you have expertise in any of these fields and a passion for advancing the geomatics industry, we encourage you to apply! As a program chair, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the direction and content of our expo programs. We highly encourage those of diverse backgrounds and perspectives to consider joining us. We are stronger with diverse perspectives and leadership! You will also join our expo advisory committee and help shape the entire expo experience.

For consideration please submit a brief statement outlining your relevant experience and the program you want to chair. Also why you’re interested in serving as a program chair. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and levels of experience.

Jon Murphy

Jon Murphy

Jonathan Murphy is the CEO, President, and Founder of GoGeomatics Canada. He is also the founder and chair of GeoIgnite, Canada's national geospatial leadership conference, and Canada's National Geomatics expo. Jon has created Canada’s largest professional geospatial network, aiming to strengthen and empower our geospatial ecosystem. A community builder and connector, he holds a bachelor's degree in Archaeology from the University of Calgary and advanced diplomas in GIS and applied geomatics research from COGS. Jon is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. In 2020, he joined the ISO/TC 211 Geographic information/Geomatics Technical Committee responsible for the ISO geographic information series of standards. In 2023, Jon joined the board of directors of buildingSMART Canada.
