Discovering the GoGeomatics Expo: Where Geospatial Meets Innovation

Check out the GoGeomatics Expo in Calgary, Nov 6-8th! The Expo program includes, workshops, demonstrations, training, speaking and award programs. A Career Fair will be held adjacent the Expo, with free public access.

The Expo has two exceptional educational partners, SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) and the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary. Together, the committee and partners are working together to highlight the excellence of the Canadian geomatics sector on a global scale.

This community-driven event will be a diverse gathering and celebration of our sector’s accomplishments, professionals, thought-leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, companies, government and students.

Activities

Trade Show

The Expo trade show features prominent players from the geomatics industry, showcasing a diverse array of organizations and companies. Attendees will encounter engineering firms, innovative product and software developers, navigation specialists, satellite experts and many other professionals.

SLAM Scan-off Program

The “scan-off” will be a scan-to-scan comparison of LiDAR mapping platforms that utilize simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology against an established terrestrial LiDAR (TLiDAR) platform to determine overall effectiveness and efficiency.

Workshops & Demos

This hands-on portion of the Expo will allow companies to take people through a demo of their tools, explain how they solved a problem leveraging geomatics, showcase their latest software or hardware, walkthrough their data or service, or present a case study with a client or partner. It’s a great opportunity for attendees to see first-hand what technologies are driving the sector. (We are still accepting applicants for workshops and demonstrations)

Canadian Cartographic Map Awards

Every year the CCA announces awards, prizes and scholarships for Canadian post-secondary students efforts in cartography or map-making. The Expo will have a gallery showcasing the work of this year’s winners.

Speaking Program

Featured Speakers

We have an impressive lineup of thought leaders ranging from educators, scientists, industry innovators and more.

Reality Capture Program

Experience a deep dive into reality capture and explore the latest advancements in 3D scanning, photogrammetry and LiDAR, revealing how these innovations redefine industries from architecture to virtual reality.

Earth Observation Program

Listen to discussions about the current state, and predictions for the future, of Earth observation. Leaders will talk about how data from satellites are driving informed decisions for disaster management, agricultural practices and urban planning.

BIM/GIS Program

Uncover the transformative potential BIM and GIS, where we explore how the integration of these technologies enhance spatial intelligence and facilitate data-driven decision-making.

Surveying Program

Join us as we speak about the science and techniques of land surveying, shedding light on its crucial role in urban development, infrastructure planning, construction, cartography and land preservation.

Leadership Program

Listen to experts explore the importance of effective leadership. They will discuss how visionary guidance can drive strategies and shape the future, the significance of diversity and driving organizations towards sustainable geospatial solutions.

Public Good Program

Hear how the use of geomatics has become an integral part of government systems that address issues such as, climate resiliency, flooding, forest fires and public health. This program will allow all levels of government to demonstrate how they have enhanced the lives of Canadians using geospatial technology.

Education Program

The University of Calgary Geomatics Engineering Program and the SAIT Geomatics Program have come together to host two days of talks, discussions and research within the expo that will showcase the best from students, faculty and researchers.

Fast Pitches

Open to all Expo-goers, Fast Pitches will allow anyone to share a geomatics product, service, student project or academic/science research project/paper. Participants will have three minutes to present to a panel of geomatics press and industry experts, followed with two minutes of questions from the panel. Top picks will have their pitch written up as an online article and published on the GoGeomatics website.

Career Fair

Geoignite Career Fair

The career fair will be composed of an recruiting hall with booths, and a separate area for networking, interviews and presentations. Motivated job seekers in the area of computer science, programming, data science, geomatics, surveying, GIS, reality capture, digital twins, BIM and location technologies will be able to connect with some of Canada’s top geospatial companies. (There are still booths available for recruiting companies)

Advocacy

The career fair is working closely with the University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) to not only engage students and graduates, but also the general public. We are committed to cultivating interest in the geospatial sector and endorsing the excellent education programs and job opportunities within it. This section of the Expo is free and open to the public.
