Canadian Cartographic Association Conference 2026

Canada’s national gathering for mapmakers, storytellers, and spatial thinkers is heading to Nova Scotia this spring.
The Canadian Cartographic Association invites cartographers, GIS professionals, researchers, students, and anyone who cares about how maps communicate ideas to come together for three days of presentations, discussion, and good Maritime hospitality. Expect a friendly, community-driven conference where academic research meets practical mapping, design, and real-world geospatial applications.
The 2026 keynote speaker is internationally recognized cartographer Allen Carroll, former Chief Cartographer at National Geographic and Esri storytelling lead, known for helping shape modern map-based communication and multimedia storytelling.
Alongside the keynote, the program includes paper sessions, an annual general meeting, and social events — including a welcome pub night and a conference dinner — plus optional field trips to historic Annapolis Royal or Kejimkujik National Park.
Students are especially encouraged to participate: the conference hosts multiple map, paper, and web-mapping competitions with cash prizes and scholarships.
