JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties:
* Lead GIS projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment, and execution.
* Provide expert advice on GIS methods, data management, and analysis, ensuring work is carried out in a cost-effective manner using project management principles.
* Oversee and conduct complex spatial analyses to support decision-making.
* Develop and support the development of innovative systems and tools that facilitate collection, management, analysis, presenting and reporting of spatial and attribute data to meet project requirements.
* Manage resources (financial, technical, people) and adapt existing schedules, project timelines and budgets.
* Assigns work and provides instructions, advice and technical leadership and guidance to project staff; reviews work in progress and assesses completed work for accuracy, required results and quality assurance.
* Work with data custodians, managers, and users to ensure the security, integrity, currency, compatibility, and availability of data.
* Develop and maintain strong influential relationships with clients and project team members to champion teamwork and ensure project success.
* Manage expectations, handle sensitive issues, and balance conflicting priorities among clients; works to achieve consensus and agreement among stakeholders.
* Develops and/or accepts a wide variety of technical documents and maintains technical standards for GIS.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in geomatics, resource management, geography, environmental science, or computer science or related area, AND/OR, a diploma in geographic information systems, OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
* Minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience supporting clients and/or project teams designing and developing spatial analysis solutions.
* Minimum of eight (8) years experience performing GIS analysis and mapping using ESRI GIS products.
* Project management knowledge and skills.
* Demonstrated leadership ability.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Good planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following experience:
* Managing and developing spatial and attribute data sets.
* Effective presentation skills, including the ability to effectively convey complex data issues to diverse audiences.
* Familiarity with a variety of natural resource, economic, and/or social data sets for the Province of BC.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
* This position will be focused on supporting North Coast Transmission Projects.
* The location of this position is at our Burnaby office, and it is a hybrid role.

Flexible work model role definitions
===========================
Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home based on the type of work they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for each position and the operational requirements. Employees also have the right to work full-time from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person time.
IBEW/Field – No option to work from home
Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.
Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.
Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week
