KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Planning, Integration & Geospatial Services, the GIS Systems Specialist provides complex project and technical support for the City’s Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) and integration of GIS into other corporate systems. Spatial data support responsibilities include developing and maintaining the GIS databases, GIS application initiative(s), mapping website(s), and integration with other City applications and software that use spatial data. This role will coordinate and maintain the City’s GIS infrastructure and enterprise GIS.

QUALIFICATIONS

A university degree or technology diploma in a relevant discipline (i.e., Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Software or Geomatics Engineering) is required, along with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Enterprise Systems project management and GIS software systems and applications.
The knowledge required to perform this position is normally acquired experience performing the following functions:

·         Enterprise GIS systems and project management

·         GIS data management and system integration

·         Working with Microsoft SQL Server and database structures

·         Experience working with FME; formal training and certification is preferred

·         Developing reports, automation (e.g., Python), and web-based GIS applications

SALARY

The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $104,517.79 per annum, along with a comprehensive benefits package including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances, and a defined benefit pension plan.
