Our client, a well-established civil contractor delivering civil, mining, and infrastructure projects across Western Canada, is seeking an experienced Survey Manager to oversee survey operations across multiple active projects. This role will play a critical part in ensuring accurate project execution, maintaining strong survey governance, and supporting field operations through effective leadership and technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage survey operations across multiple heavy civil and infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee and mentor internal survey teams while coordinating with third-party survey providers.
  • Act as the primary liaison between project teams and client/owner survey groups.
  • Establish and maintain survey control, models, and surfaces to ensure a single accurate project data source.
  • Review and approve machine control files and oversee GPS, drone, and survey data integration.
  • Validate project quantities and assist with reconciliation prior to billing submissions.
  • Support change orders and commercial documentation through accurate survey data.
  • Ensure continuous as-built data capture and deliver complete records during project closeout.
  • Drive improvements in survey processes, systems, and technologies.
  • Uphold Health, Safety & Environmental standards across survey activities.

 

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of survey experience within heavy civil, mining, or infrastructure construction.
  • Previous experience in a senior surveyor or survey leadership role.
  • Strong background in earthworks, grading, and volumetric analysis.
  • Experience coordinating with client or owner survey teams on large infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with Trimble, Topcon, Leica, or equivalent survey systems.
  • Experience with Civil 3D or comparable modelling and design software.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations.
  • Civil Technology diploma, geomatics education, or related technical training preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
