What you’ll do:

  • Write articles, interviews, and commentary on geomatics topics from Canada and around the world

  • Collaborate with fellow volunteers to curate and develop content that serves and informs Canada’s geomatics community

  • Participate in discussions about trends, challenges, and opportunities in the sector

Why this is unique:

This is more than just a writing opportunity—it’s a front-row seat at the leading edge of Canada’s geomatics industry.

There is nothing like GoGeomatics Canada, a community-driven platform that connects professionals and emerging talent while highlighting important stories and voices both nationally and globally.

Our volunteers also get opportunities to attend and cover international and Canadian conferences as media representatives for the GoGeomatics Canada Magazine, gaining privileged access to industry events.

Mentorship:
You’ll be mentored and supported by professional journalist Anusuya Datta and GoGeomatics Canada founder Jonathan Murphy, offering valuable guidance and helping you develop as a communicator and thought leader in the sector.

Commitment:

  • Approximately 3–4 hours per month

  • Weekly Zoom meeting every Tuesday at 8 PM EST, where we discuss story ideas, share feedback, and talk about developments in geomatics across Canada and globally

Who we’re looking for:

  • Students, early-career professionals, or experienced practitioners with an interest in writing and editing

  • Curious and reliable contributors looking to build their skills and networks

  • No prior professional writing experience required—just enthusiasm and a desire to contribute

  • Attend and cover leading industry conferences in Canada and internationally

  • Contribute to Canada’s largest geomatics media platform

  • Be part of a passionate, engaged, and unique national community
