President Obama and Transportation Secretary LaHood
have just announced the release of $27 billion from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to the states to create upgrade transporation infrastructure including
- $17.7 billion geographically unrestricted
- $4.3 billion for urban areas
- $3.0 billion for suburban area
- $799 million for mandatory transporation enhancements
- $634 million for rural areas
