Be Inspired Awards finalists to present their projects at Year in Infrastructure 2015

This is the first time I have been able to attend the Year in Infrastructure conference in London.  I fully intended to go last year but events conspired against me.

A highlight of the conference are the Be Inspired Awards.  The annual Be Inspired Awards competition brings together infrastructure professionals and members of the media to share innovative practices in infrastructure project design, engineering, construction, and operations and to celebrate the extraordinary work of the world’s architects, engineers, contractors and owner-operators. Since 2004 the Be Inspired Awards program has recognized more than 2,000 of the world’s most outstanding infrastructure projects.  Infrastructure projects submitted for the awards across a range of 18 categories, many of which include geospatial technology, are assessed by an independent team of industry expert judges based on each entry’s ability to showcase “BIM advancements” through depth of information modelling, for better asset performance and breadth of information mobility for better project performance.  Categories include innovation in

  1. ASSET PERFORMANCE
  2. BRIDGES
  3. BUILDING
  4. CONSTRUCTION
  5. GOVERNMENT
  6. LAND DEVELOPMENT
  7. MEGAPROJECTS
  8. MINING
  9. OFFSHORE
  10. POWER GENERATION
  11. PROCESS MANUFACTURING
  12. PROJECT DELIVERY
  13. RAIL AND TRANSIT
  14. ROADS
  15. STRUCTURES
  16. UTILITIES AND COMMUNICATIONS
  17. WATER NETWORK ANALYSIS
  18. WATER TREATMENT PLANTS

The top three finalists have been chosen in each Be Inspired Awards category and each has won a trip to London to attend the Year in Infrastructure 2015 Conference from November 2nd through the 5th.  I have gone through the project descriptions and am really excited looking forward to hearing the finalists present their projects Tuesday afternoon.  The winners will be announced Wednesday evening at the Be Inspired Awards Dinner.
