At the COP 21 meeting in Paris Canada’s Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna said that her government wants the Paris agreement to restrict planetary warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. She also said that the agreement should include a five-year review of each nation’s goals and achievements. Also she supports a legally binding agreement “the most important thing is that each country should be legally required to submit a target. And to report on progress on that target on a regular basis – there should also be a legally binding requirement in the agreement that countries improve their targets regularly.”
