Sunday, April 03, 2011 05:46 JST (16:46:00 Saturday April 2 ET) According to NHK, the Japanese government and TEPCO have begun measuring atmospheric radioactivity levels at about 30 locations within a 20 kilometer radius of the plant. The Japanese government and TEPCO have already been measuring atmospheric radioactivity outside the 20-kilometer mandatory evacuation zone.
The results available so far show that, similarly to the previous results outside the 20 km exclusion zone, radioactivity levels vary considerably, ranging from less one μSv/h to over 50 μSv/h.
Based on the radioactivity readings outside the exclusion zone, I would expect the highest readings to be from northwest of the plant.
