In an earlier blog I pointed to a New York Times site where there was imagery showing Fukushima Daiichi before and after (Mar 17). The imagery came from GeoEye, and you can access the data directly at the GeoEye site. It’s cool because visualizing the imagery is implemented via a slider that you can move with your mouse right or left to see a very detailed view of what has happened at Fukushima Daiichi. The before, half-meter resolution image (left) was taken by the GeoEye-1 satellite on Nov. 15, 2009 and the after, one-meter image (right) was taken by the IKONOS satellite at 10:19 a.m. (local time) on March 17, 2011.
Imagery is also available at the same site for other parts of Japan hard hit by the tsunami. Thanks to Bill Rick for pointing me to this.
