Yesterday TEPCO reported

Unit 2(Shut down)
– Reactor has been shut down and Reactor Core Isolation Cooling System has
  been injecting water to the reactor. Current reactor water level is lower
  than normal level, but the water level is steady. After fully securing
  safety, we are preparing to implement a measure to reduce the pressure of
  the reactor containment vessels under the instruction of the national
  government.

The BBC has now reported that TEPCO is planning to pump seawater into Unit 2 at the plant – this is the first time serious cooling problems have been reported with this reactor.  This is also a BWR/4 Mark 1 type reactor.  It went on line in 1974.

VISION* Solutions is credited with pioneering relational spatial data management, CAD/GIS integration, and long transactions (data versioning) in the utility, communications, and public works industries. Geoff is a frequent speaker at geospatial and utility events around the world including Geospatial World Forum, Where 2.0, MundoGeo Connect (Brazil), Middle East Spatial Geospatial Forum, India Geospatial Forum, Location Intelligence, Asia Geospatial Forum, and GITA events in US, Japan and Australia. Geoff received Speaker Excellence Awards at GITA 2007-2009.
