Fukushima Daiichi Perimeter Radiation Continues to Drop

The latest Fukushima Daiichi report from JAIF at 19:00 March 15 JST (06:00:00 am Tuesday March 15 Eastern Time) reports that the water level of the spent fuel pool at Unit 4 is low and that water is being injected.  It also reports that the temperatures of the spent fuel pools at Units 5 and 6 have been increasing slowly.

There is concern about the integrity of the Unit 2 containment vessel, but JAIF says that the water level in the reactor is recovering.  The pressure is fluctuating and the condition of the fuels rods is unknown.

Units 1 and 3 are listed as stable.  The containment vessels are undamaged, but the fuel cells are damaged.

The radiation reading at the plant perimeter at 18:30 (05:30 am ET) is reported to be 489.8 microSieverts/hr, which is lower than the last reading I reported.
