Fukushima Daiichi: Radiation levels in seawater near plant highest ever

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 12:23 JST (23:23:00 Tuesday March 29 ET) NHK reports that NISA says that the level of iodine-131 found 330 meters south of a water outlet of the plant was 3,355 times regulated standards at 1:55 PM on Tuesday.  Apparently this is the highest level recorded at this location.  The outlet drains water from Units 1 to 4.

Iodine-131 measured 50 meters north of the water outlet of Units 5 and 6 (which are in cold shut down) was 1,262 times the regulated standards at 2:10 PM on Tuesday.  Apparently this is the highest reading recorded at this location.
