LEED V3

LEED v3 was released at the end of April.  It includes technical advancements to the LEED credits and points, an upgrade to LEED Online, an expanded certification infrastructure based on ISO standards and administered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

The enhancements include

Harmonization

Credits and prerequisites have been harmonized across all LEED 2009 rating systems.

Changed credit weightings

LEED 2009 credits now have different weightings depending on their ability to impact different environmental and human health issues especially energy efficiency and CO2 reduction.  Also credits are no longer assigned for practices which are now included in building codes.

Regionalization

Depending on the project’s location, six LEED credits are prioritized because they address the environmental issues specific to that region..
