Shann Hurley, AutoCAD blogger, was at the solid rocket motor test yesterday in Utah. The Development Motor 1 (DM-1) generated 36 million pounds of thrust and required a football field of concrete to keep it static for the test. Shaan’s recommendation is that it’s for this kind of exciting project that young people should be considering a future in science and engineering fields, so that we continue to have manned lunar and planetary missions. Interesting tidbit that Shaan reported is that a rattlesnake survived being directly behind the motor test. (Image Shaan Hurley)
