Renewables supplied 35% of Scotland’s power in 2011

According to statistics published by the Government of Scotland renewables supplied about 35 per cent of Scotland’s electricity needs in 2011.  Renewable electricity generation in Scotland in 2011 reached a record of 13,750 GWh, up 44.5 per cent over 2010.  Most of this was wind and hydro.

  • Wind generation 7,049 GWh
  • Hydro generation 5,310 GWh

 At the end of 2011, there was 4,796 Megawatts (MW) of installed renewables capacity in Scotland, an increase of  416 MW (9.5 per cent) over the installed capacity at the end of 2010.  At the end of the second quarter in 2012, the total renewables capacity had reached 5,453 MW.

He received one of ten annual global technology awards in 2004 from Oracle Corporation for technical innovation and leadership in the use of Oracle. Prior to Autodesk Geoff was Director of Product Development at VISION* Solutions. VISION* Solutions is credited with pioneering relational spatial data management, CAD/GIS integration, and long transactions (data versioning) in the utility, communications, and public works industries. Geoff is a frequent speaker at geospatial and utility events around the world including Geospatial World Forum, Where 2.0, MundoGeo Connect (Brazil), Middle East Spatial Geospatial Forum, India Geospatial Forum, Location Intelligence, Asia Geospatial Forum, and GITA events in US, Japan and Australia. Geoff received Speaker Excellence Awards at GITA 2007-2009.
