The GoGeomatics Expo 2025 is excited to welcome back one of our strongest education partners: the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). NAIT has built a reputation as one of Canada’s leading schools for surveying and geospatial education, equipping students with both the technical expertise and the practical, hands-on training needed to succeed in the workforce.
This year’s Expo, taking place November 3-5, 2025, in Calgary, will again provide that bridge between education and industry.
For the third year in a row, a class of Surveying and Geospatial Engineering Technology students from NAIT will travel from Edmonton to Calgary for a hands-on experience at the event. For these students, it will be a full day of connecting classroom learning with real-world practice — engaging with industry professionals, exploring the latest tools and technologies, and experiencing the breadth of opportunities across Canada’s geomatics sector.
“We’re excited to bring our students to Calgary for the Expo,” said Patrick Whitehead, Chair of Surveying and Geospatial Engineering Technology, School of Construction and Building Sciences at NAIT. “It’s an invaluable opportunity for them to see the industry up close, connect with professionals, and understand the impact of the technologies they’re learning about in the classroom.”
“NAIT has been one of the Expo’s most committed education partners,” said Jonathan Murphy, Founder and CEO of GoGeomatics. “Bringing students to the event not only supports their career development, but it also strengthens the entire Canadian geomatics sector by connecting future professionals directly with the industry.”
Why this matters
Canada’s surveying and geospatial workforce is under increasing pressure as demand grows across infrastructure, energy, and environmental sectors. By connecting students directly with industry at events like the GoGeomatics Expo, NAIT helps bridge the gap between education and practice, ensuring graduates are workforce-ready and industry-connected.
NAIT’s Surveying and Geospatial Engineering Technology program is one of the largest and most established in Canada. It combines fieldwork, data analysis, and advanced geospatial technologies to provide students with a complete foundation in surveying and geomatics. Graduates are highly sought after in sectors ranging from construction and energy to environmental management and infrastructure development.
