Spotify’s Most Streamed Artist in the World, Billie Eilish, Partners with Google Maps to Improve Upcoming Tour Sustainability

Singer songwriter Billie Eilish is known to take extra steps to reduce her carbon footprint. From eliminating 117,000+ single use water bottles in her 2022 tour to making all her merchandise out of recycled cotton, paper, and plastics, Eilish now aims to conquer the 70% of her concert’s carbon footprint that comes from the concert-goers themselves. Partnering with Google Maps, Eilish encourages her fans to use public transportation, bike-sharing, or walking to get to her concerts. In cases where attendees have to drive, she has made sure that Google Maps will indicate the most fuel-efficient route.

In addition to transportation methods, Eilish hopes to improve the accessibility of plant based food options. At her last tour, she was able to save 8.8 million gallons of water by serving plant-based meals backstage. For this tour, Eilish hopes to spread her love of the planet and her passion for eating a plant-based diet to her fans. She created a Google Map with points identifying 120 different plant-based restaurants in major tour cities where fans can eat before attending her concert. For Vegan on the Fly, she says “Buffalo drumsticks might have changed my life 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.” This adds a personalized touch that allows her to relate more with her fans. By using geospatial data platforms like Google Maps, Eilish is able to increase the accessibility of sustainable transportation routes and plant-based food options.
