GoGeomatics is pleased to announce the support of the World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) for the GoGeomatics Expo 2025, taking place November 3–5, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta. WGIC will host the inaugural Horizons+ World Geospatial Industry Dinner on November 3 and participate in the Expo program through keynotes and member company industry activities.
Horizons+ Dinner
On November 3, WGIC will host an curated Horizons+ Dinner at Chairman’s Steak House in Calgary, gathering 35 senior geospatial and industry executives for engaged conversations on the theme “Mapping the Energy Transition.”
The dinner will feature speaker Gitane De Silva, Founder of GDStrategic, public policy leader, former CEO of the Canada Energy Regulator, and Alberta’s Senior Representative to the U.S. De Silva will explore how geospatial and Earth Observation (EO) technologies are transforming the energy sector — from oil and gas to renewables — highlighting the role of governments and regulators in using GIS, satellites, and digital twins to manage critical infrastructure, ensure safety, and drive environmental accountability in the global energy transition.
Horizons+ dinners set the stage with access to decision-makers, inspiring high-value conversations outside the noise of the Expo floor. More information is available on the event page at: https://www.wgic-horizons.live/horizons-dinners
WGIC at GoGeomatics Expo 2025
WGIC is also actively participating in other Expo activities, with its executives, members, and partners contributing international perspectives through talks, panels, and advisory forums. Their involvement will connect Canadian discussions to global geospatial priorities, ensuring that issues of policy, innovation, and industry growth are addressed in both national and international contexts.
WGIC Executive Director Aaron Addison will deliver a featured talk on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 on Competition or Cooperation: Geospatial’s Role in a Changing World, examining how global shifts in geopolitics, sovereignty, and data governance are reshaping the geospatial industry.
“As governments and industries navigate competing priorities, it is critical to find pathways for collaboration. Canada’s geospatial sector has a unique role to play in connecting national priorities with international progress. The GoGeomatics Expo provides a vital forum for exploring how our industry can continue to serve the public good while driving innovation and resilience globally,” Addison said.
“We’re honored to welcome back WGIC as a key partner for Expo 2025. Their presence brings a truly global perspective while strengthening conversations here in Canada about sovereignty, self-sustaining innovation, and the importance of collaboration.
