The Open Geospatial Consortium Technical Committee Meeting – Banff Alberta

Come and join us for the 112th OGC Technical Committee meeting. This will be an amazing week with a broad range of meetings and topics being discussed. You don’t have to be an OGC member to attend an OGC meeting. Whilst some meetings will be member only, many are open to anyone to attend and new voices are always welcome.

OGC standards are implemented worldwide to make it easier to rapidly integrate and mobilize location information and technologies to improve decision making. OGC standards also help reduce IT lifecycle costs by drastically reducing custom integration effort. By making it easier to integrate and apply diverse sources of location information, OGC standards help make air travel safe, improve weather predictions, warn of imminent disasters, respond to emergencies, support city planning and operations, and provide citizens and consumers with helpful mobile apps.

OGC, as a standard developing organization, provides a stable baseline for innovation. Innovation and standards appear to be opposing ideas, but, the two ideas work together to prevent the extremes of technological stagnation and disorder. Standards bring order to the disarray of the implementations of new ideas and provides a baseline for innovation to flourish. That innovation, in turn, feeds the creation of new ccand updated standards.

This TC Meeting will be held at a conference facility with an attached hotel space. Attendees are encouraged to use the hotel room block or an additional fee of $60 CAD per day will be added to your registration.

Rooms start at $190 CAD + taxes per night.

This is a conference facility, your daily participation package includes:

  • guestroom (single sleeping room – larger rooms are available)

  • access and borrowing privileges at The Banff Centre library and archives

$190 Canadian dollars per night plus applicable taxes in effect at the time of the program, including 2% TIF, 4% ATL, and 5% GST. Breakfast is available for $22.25 + taxes. These rooms are only available until 8 August 2019.

You must have a Banff Conference Centre guestroom package for each day you will attend the TC meetings, otherwise, the conference facility and meal package fee of $60 USD per day will be added to your OGC registration. This will include the above list minus the sleeping room.

Prior to registration, you must reserve your guestroom and receive your confirmation code. You will be required to enter the Banff confirmation code in your meeting registration to receive your package discount.
