We are seeking a highly skilled GIS & Data Analytics Lead to drive geospatial and data analytics initiatives across our organization. This role combines technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with strong analytical and leadership capabilities to deliver actionable insights that support strategic decision-making.
As a GIS & Data Analytics Lead, reporting to the Director of Communications & Information Technology Services (CITs), you will play a key role in shaping components of specific system development, working in forming structured system analysis and design, as well as technology assessment, policy enhancement and implementation and testing. You will be trusted to take the lead, bring your ideas to the table, and help shape the work in a place that values strategy, heart, and compliance for the city of Beaumont.
What YOU’RE Responsible for:
- Design, implement, and maintain GIS applications, spatial databases, and analytical models, to align with organizational objective and business strategy.
- Oversee acquisition, integration, and governance of spatial and non-spatial datasets, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and establishing organizational standards for spatial data.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and interactive maps using tools like ArcGIS, and Power BI to present actionable insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business challenges and deliver data-driven solutions.
- Research emerging GIS technologies and analytics methodologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Lead and mentor a team of GIS analysts and data specialists, fostering technical growth and a data-driven culture.
- Manage GIS and analytics projects from inception to delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Communicate insights and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders through clear presentations and reports.

What YOU Bring:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, GIS, , or related field
5+ years of experience in GIS and analytics roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity. - Proficient with ESRI software such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Experience builder to develop web-based mapping applications and dashboards. Proficient with data visualization tools such as Power BI.
- Strong knowledge of spatial analysis, geodatabases, and data modeling.
Experience with programming languages such as Python for data processing and automation. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience integrating enterprise systems (e.g., asset management, permitting, ERPs) with GIS application such as FME, ArcGIS Online/ArcGIS Enterprise, and all its components (e.g., ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, and ArcGIS Data Store).
Strategic and Analytical Skills:
- Familiarity with cloud-based GIS platforms and big data technologies.
- Understanding of machine learning applications in geospatial analytics.
- Project management experience with Agile or similar methodologies.
- Ability to research and stay current with industry best practices and innovations
