We are seeking a Senior Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Processor Analyst to join our team in Richmond, BC and contribute to the next generation of Earth observation space missions.

From detecting changes in fragile ecosystems to monitoring northern ice floes and shipping routes, our near-real-time Earth observation data supports geointelligence programs across commercial, government, and defence sectors. Our team is a leader in geospatial imagery, ground stations, enterprise geospatial systems, and defence programs.

You will join a remote sensing team with more than 30 years of experience delivering world-class missions including RADARSAT-2, RapidEye, Sapphire, CASSIOPE, RADARSAT Constellation Mission, and now the CHORUS Constellation of SAR satellites.

As a Senior SAR Processor Analyst, you will contribute to world-leading Synthetic Aperture Radar processors by developing advanced signal processing algorithms that generate high-value imagery and real-time actionable intelligence for customers worldwide.


Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Processor Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing novel signal processing algorithms to push the boundaries of SAR performance, including resolution, swath width, and Moving Target Indication (MTI)

  • Designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing high-quality SAR processor models and prototypes using current best practices in software architecture and development

  • Participating in trade-off studies to ensure algorithms are implementable on real hardware, including processors and radar systems

  • Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving signal processing errors or image artefacts in SAR products

  • Performing system-level analyses and developing models to predict and validate system performance

  • Developing solutions to improve SAR image quality

  • Developing and executing calibration plans for SAR missions

  • Coordinating SAR processing requirements with internal stakeholders, including payload teams, applications teams, and business development

  • Producing clear and thorough technical documentation and reports

  • Mentoring and coaching junior team members


Required Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Physics, or a combination of related education and experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering or technical environment, or 4 years with a relevant postgraduate degree

  • At least 6 years of experience working with complex signal processing systems (e.g. radar, medical imaging, sonar)

  • Strong understanding of high-speed, high-throughput data analysis and transmission systems

  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++

  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to operate effectively within a large organization and manage dependencies across teams


Desired Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in a field involving complex signal processing

  • Experience with SAR remote sensing, including system design, operation, calibration, and applications

  • Experience with satellite-based SAR payload design and operations

  • Familiarity with modern software development methodologies

  • Experience across different engineering life cycles, from large complex programs to software-focused development

  • Experience implementing algorithms on FPGA

  • Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and space-borne remote sensing concepts

  • Strong understanding of geospatial data

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $113,000 – $145,000 annually.
Final compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.


Security Requirements

Successful candidates must be eligible for and obtain Reliability Status security clearance and pass security assessment under the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
