Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Geospatial Services Group has a full-time opportunity for Survey Technologist based in Red Deer, Alberta.
Our Geospatial Services Team collaborates with Stantec’s Water, Infrastructure, Environmental Services, Buildings, and Energy & Resources business operating units to provide a complete solution for our clients. This provides a workplace filled with opportunity and a variety of projects to advance employee growth and knowledge, while providing clients with unique solutions to the issues they face.
Key Responsibilities
• Performing a variety of surveys and buried facility locating with minimal supervision.
• Conducting comprehensive topographic, legal, construction, bathymetric, drone and as-built surveys.
• Actively participate and promote Stantec’s Health & Safety culture and awareness which includes identifying hazardous situations and applying safety procedures and company standards.
• Ensure safe operating and maintenance procedures are followed for company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Effective communication with Project Managers, Crew Chief, and other stakeholder as to progress updates, scope changes, HSSE reporting and other project impacts.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
• Ability to execute surveys in an accurate, efficient, detailed and safe manner.
• Proficiency with GPS, Total stations and Electromagnetic Locators. Working knowledge of Trimble GPS and Trimble Total Stations is an asset.
• Advanced drone license is an asset.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to work in mountainous and forested terrain with the ability to lift/carry heavy equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
• This position may require seasonal travel to various sites across western Canada, including Fort McMurray.
• Willingness to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, willingness to work in wildlife populated areas, and willingness to work in remote field areas for extended periods and varied hours.
Education and Experience:
• Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent post-secondary degree in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience in land surveying technology.
• A minimum of 0-1 years of field survey experience is preferred.

• Standard First Aid
• H2S Alive
• WHMIS
• CSTS 2020 (Construction Safety Training System)
• CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
• Line Locating Certification
• Valid Driver’s License
