Hamilton, Ontario – October 2025 — The National Geomatics Competition (NGC) is thrilled to announce that its 2026 edition will be hosted at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, from February 18–21, 2026.
Organized entirely by undergraduate geomatics students, the NGC is a nationwide case competition designed to promote excellence in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and strengthen connections between students, academia, and industry professionals.
This year’s event promises to be the largest in NGC history, with more than 60 participants representing universities across Canada. Attendees will engage in case studies, networking activities, job fairs, technical presentations, and the annual NGC Gala, making it one of the premier opportunities to connect with Canada’s next generation of geomatics leaders.
“The National Geomatics Competition has become a cornerstone of Canada’s geomatics community,” said Nolyn Lakhanpal, Co-Chair of the NGC 2026 Organizing Committee. “It brings together students, academics, and industry professionals to tackle real-world spatial challenges and shape the future of geomatics innovation.”
Call for Sponsors
As a student-led, volunteer-driven initiative, the NGC relies on the generous support of industry sponsors to bring the event to life. The 2026 Sponsorship Package offers a range of opportunities—from Bronze to Platinum tiers—along with special options to sponsor awards, social events, meals, and merchandise.
Sponsors benefit from:
-
Nationwide brand visibility across NGC platforms and event materials
-
Direct engagement with Canada’s top geomatics students at networking events and the company expo
-
Recruitment opportunities through access to student résumés and interview sessions
-
Recognition at the prestigious NGC Gala and in post-event media
Customized sponsorships are also available for organizations wishing to host workshops, provide branded merchandise, or present awards during the competition.
“Our sponsors play a vital role in driving the geomatics industry forward,” added Matthew Kastanis, Co-Chair of the NGC 2026. “Their support allows us to create meaningful connections between industry and emerging professionals while showcasing innovation and leadership in the geospatial field.”
