The Open Geospatial Consortium’s Canada Forum is Back

This meeting kicks off the OGC’s year of celebrating 30 years of bringing together a global community that helped put the power of data and technology in the hands of users all around the world.  Canadians have played a role in building solutions and also in bringing together this global community.  We would like to see if you know of anyone or have yourself have developed standards or platforms that have promoted interoperability with the OGC.  We will be compiling a list of all the standards, and individuals involved, and will be honouring individuals and companies at our Montreal event, and subsequently recognizing their efforts at our major 30 year celebration in December of 2024.’

The OGC Canada Forum is back! Scheduled as part of the 129th OGC Member Meeting in Montreal, join us in person or remotely to contribute to the Canadian Geospatial Community. All Canadian organizations and those operating in Canada are welcome to participate, whether members or non-members of OGC. Canada Forum sessions will be held on June 17 and 18, 2024.

Prashant Shukle is the Director General of the Canada Centre for Mapping and Earth Observation, one of the Government of Canada’s lead organizations in the area of Earth Observations, Geographic Information Systems, and Geospatial Data and Service Solutions. Mr. Shukle is also responsible for the GeoConnections program, which is responsible for ensuring Canadians are among the world’s leaders in using and sharing all forms of geospatial data and enabling its use seamlessly with a variety of technologies, and across multiple industrial applications. He is also accountable for the Natural Resources Canada chain of satellite receiving stations, one of which is located at Inuvik and is strategically positioned to make Canada a geospatial data and technology destination for the world.
