WGIC Welcomes Nominations for DEI Trailblazer Awards 2023

 

The Hague, The Netherlands, June 27, 2023 – The World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC) is proud to open the nominations for the DEI Trailblazer Awards 2023 to recognize and celebrate outstanding leaders promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the geospatial community.

“WGIC DEI Trailblazer Awards celebrate and recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations that have made strides in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the geospatial space,” said Albert Momo, WGIC DEI Committee Chair, and added, “Our hope is that these awards will inspire others to follow suit and continue the work of building a more welcoming and inclusive community.”

In their second year, the awards will continue to highlight the immense value DEI brings in driving positive change. The inaugural DEI Trailblazer Awards received an overwhelming response in 2022 from the geospatial community, reaffirming the industry’s dedication to these core principles. Esri India won the WGIC DEI Trailblazer 2022 – Corporate Impact Award, and Clinton Johnson, Racial Equity and Social Justice Solutions Lead, Esri, won the WGIC DEI Trailblazer 2022 – Individual Champion Award. Building on last year’s success, the DEI Trailblazer Awards 2023 will honor individuals and organizations that have made a significant impact by championing diversity, equity, and inclusion. The awards will be presented in two categories: The DEI Individual Champion Award and The DEI Corporate Impact Award.

WGIC DEI Trailblazer 2023 – Individual Champion

The WGIC DEI Individual Champion Award acknowledges individuals who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to instigating change through DEI efforts.

Eligibility: Individual geospatial professionals from across the geospatial ecosystem qualify for this award. Nominees must not currently serve on the WGIC board or any WGIC working groups or committees.

WGIC DEI Trailblazer 2023 – Corporate Impact

The WGIC DEI Corporate Impact Award recognizes WGIC organizations that have made significant advancements in promoting and implementing DEI within their workplaces. The award acknowledges organizational DEI initiatives that bring greater inclusivity and diversity within nominee organizations and in the broader geospatial ecosystem.

Eligibility: Companies that are WGIC members qualify for this nomination.

Important Dates:

July 31, 2023: Last date for the submission of nominations
September 1, 2023: Announcement of the winners
October 10-12, 2023: Presentation of the awards at INTERGEO 2023 in Berlin, Germany
