5 Major Canadian GeoSpatial and IT Events for 2019

Though GoGeomatics is busy preparing for our GeoIgnite conference in June 2019, we are still committed to promoting events that involve the interests of the Canadian geospatial community. What follows is a list of a few of the most important geomatics and location technology events that you should consider attending in 2019.

1. GeoIgnite

Date: June 18th-19th

Location: Ottawa Conference and Event Centre, Ottawa ON

GeoIgnite 2019 will bring together the thought-leaders and decision makers of geospatial industry, innovation, business, and governance. It is an amazing opportunity for participants to get updates on the newest technologies, the latest innovations, and the next generation of technologies.

GeoIgnite is also unique for its specific attention to government to business (G2B) and business to business (B2B) networking opportunities. The conference trade show and panel discussions have been designed with a focus on the current age of technological disruption in government and the foundational nature location data and services play in society.

2. National Surveyors Conference

Date: May 1st – 3rd

Location: Delta Halifax Hotel, Halifax NS

Held in the beautiful Halifax Hotel, the National Surveyors Conference is the first joint event between the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors and Professional Surveyors Canada. Principal speakers will include Dan Conlin (Mysteries of Oak Island), Julia Meldrum-Smith, Andrew Brebner (Natural Resources Canada), and Peter Morin (KPMG).

3. Bespatial

Date: May 1st – 2nd

Location: The Bayview Golf and Country Club, Thornhill ON

Bespatial is not only the name of a regional two-day event but teh name of the assocation that put it on.  Each year this event is always of particular interest to professionals involved in the intensely important application of information technology and integration of land-related data.  The event provides an opportunity to network while learning the role of the geospatial and information community in shaping and enabling the transformation of a city to smart city infrastructure.

4. 40th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing & Geomatics Atlantic 2019 / 40e Symposium de télédétection et Géomatique Atlantique 2019

Date: June 4th – 6th

Location: Fredericton NB

Many of Canada’s leading academics in remote sensing and geomatics will gather in Atlantic Canada this spring. The three-day 40th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing and Geomatics Atlantic conference will unite academics and practitioners under the theme of Common Perspectives and NewSpace. Participants will enjoy receptions, panel discussions, networking, ISPRS workshop, a public lecture and local entertainment.

5. GeoAlberta

Date: November 13th – 14th

Location: The Sheraton Red Deer Hotel, Red Deer AB

This is the industry’s top knowledge-sharing opportunity in Western Canada. GeoAlberta offers educational presentations, trade-show, sharing, and networking with your industry peers and clients. Geomatics professionals are expected to attend this gathering for sessions that will cover various subjects, from utilities, to oil and gas, to unmanned aerial vehicles.

Whether you are looking for a job or trying to grow your business, attending conferences and networking in person is your best way to make the connections that will cement you place in the Canadian geospatial community. You can’t afford to miss out on these opportunities!
