“Analyzing Canadian Communities with POI Data” – SafeGraph

GIS data isn’t just for huge projects, it can also be used perfectly for small-scale community studies that make a difference to local businesses. In this talk from Juliana McMillan-Wilhoit from Tabulae Spatial and Briana Brown from SafeGraph, they go over some projects they’ve worked on and how POI data has proved valuable in determining where to allocate resources, open a new location, or identify under-served populations. Juliana McMillan-Wilhoit holds a decade of experience working with organizations to aid in their understanding of geospatial data, and has worked for companies such as Esri and KPMG and now as the Owner of Tabulae Spatial Services where she provides analytical products and consulting. Juliana is passionate about leveraging data to tell the stories of communities.

Briana Brown is a geographer specializing in data content, storytelling, and visualization. Currently working in content at SafeGraph, she has previous experience in product management, marketing, and consulting, having previously worked at Precisely and Esri. Briana has also volunteered her GIS and data expertise with the United Nations and Catholic Relief Services.
