Elizabeth McCready graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.A. in Social Anthropology and Geography, and from Lakehead University with a B.Sc. in Sciences.
Though she did summer work in geospatial and environmental fields - including forest regeneration surveying for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources - she pursued her passion for helping others by spending almost two decades in special education as her first career, specialising in mental health, giftedness, and learning disabilities. This included being a self-employed academic coach and adaptive technology specialist.
Alongside her first career in special education, Elizabeth has been designing websites and low-cost digital marketing strategies for nonprofits, small businesses and individuals, and writing non-fiction SEO content writing on and off since the dot-com boom of late 1990s. Her technology articles and travel articles were regularly published on eHow.com in 2010-2011.
Elizabeth is a dedicated volunteer with over 14,500 volunteer hours mostly with environmental & education organizations in special events, long-term positions, and serving on two nonprofit board of directors. As the Membership and Volunteer Management Board Member for the Iroquois Bruce Trail Club in 2008-2009, she developed and implemented a new digital volunteer recruitment and onboarding program.
She has been part of the GoGeomatics volunteer Community Managers Team since May, 2020, as a Contributing Writer and Editor, and since September, 2020 as the new Social Media Coordinator.
She is currently changing careers into IT - focusing on web and software development. As a dual Canadian and Aotearoa/New Zealand citizen, Elizabeth has chosen to study online at Massey University in NZ:
Elizabeth will finish full-time studies 2021.
She is seeking challenging positions with a team of awesome people - like the ones here at GoGeomatics Canada.
