POSITION SUMMARY:
The Calgary Engineering and Research teams at Intermap maintain and support Geospatial production systems, and provide Geomatics based solutions for Intermap. Support for these systems and the solutions provided are mission critical to enable 24/7 operations.
This Geomatics Engineer (EIT) is a highly motivated and driven individual who can work in a team-oriented environment and independently with minimal supervision. The individual is objectives orientated and will support research, testing, and software development for scientific and engineering solutions as it relates to the company’s Enterprise Workflow. They will be intimately involved with all systems and solutions. They will be enthusiastic, positive and eager to get involved, learn and support Intermap’s internal customers and the enterprise systems.
The Geomatics Engineer’s (EIT) primary duties will include research, development, data analysis, deployment and maintenance of geospatial products and solutions. These include many market-driven applications necessary to leverage Intermap’s Global digital elevation datasets, which require Geomatics expertise and solutions. Typical research activities include data/system analysis and data manipulation/management. Development activities may include both process and software design for production facilities or consumer applications.
The individual in this position will work within a team environment to innovate and create, test and analyze, and deploy and maintain challenging scientific software applications. Expectations also include communicating requirements with customers, supporting project management (status updates, estimation, scheduling, transition planning, etc) and software maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Provide Geomatics expertise and solutions (i.e. projections, datum transformations, geoids, resampling, etc.)
- Support Software Development and Research for all scientific applications including software development support through the project lifecycle
- Gain familiarity with Intermap’s Enterprise workflow, production tools and processes
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop focused products and solutions for the company
- Support identification and implementation of efficiency improvements to existing systems dependent on priorities and ROI
- Be engaged with projects and initiatives to successfully complete and deliver the desired results on time, on budget and to customer satisfaction
- Implement research, engineering and development technical expertise to provide needed solutions
- Maintain and implement development standards, best practices, process, documentation and Configuration Management
- Intuitively seek out support issues or needs, and reach out to provide resolution—includes identification of improvement opportunities
- Communicate and share information within lead engineers

Technical
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills
- Strong understanding of Geodesy
- Experience with one or more GIS packages (i.e. Global Mapper, ArcGIS, etc.) is a must
- Experience with Matlab and Excel is a must
- Experience supporting production or customers would be an asset
- Experience with support tracking systems and metrics reporting would be an asset
- Experience with C and C++ would be an asset
- Experience with Python and Machine Learning would be an asset
EDUCATION/TRAINING
- B.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering
- Eligibility to be registered as an EIT with APEGA
